SPLIT SECOND

March 20, 1972 - June 27, 1975
ABC Daytime Game Show

Host:
Tom Kennedy

Announcer:
Jack Clark

Three contestants competed in this question-and-answer
game. The game consisted of three quick question rounds.
In the first two rounds, questions were read to the
players and each had three possible answers. The
players raced to come up with the first answer in
order to leave the more difficult questions to their
opponents. If all three players came up with correct
answers each received $5; if only two players
came up with correct answers they received $10; and
if only one was correct, the payoff was $25. In
round two the values were doubled. In the final
"Countdown Round," each contestant had to answer as
many questions as necessary to win. The winner of
the day was given the opportunity to win one of five
new cars on stage if the key he or she chose started
the right car. Only one of five cars was keyed to
start. If the car did not start, the player returned
to play the next show and if he or she won again,
selected from four keys. Any player that won on five
straight shows automatically won a car.
