Betty White co-created this prime time domestic comedy.
She played Vicki Angel and Bill Williams starred as her husband Gus, an insurance salesman.
More typical in its format and stories than Life with Elizabeth, the Angels
were newlyweds and were seen fumbling through their first year of wedded bliss.
An unusually wide assortment of neighbors and friends passed through the series,
usually serving as foils for one of Vicki's or Gus's schemes. Most frequently
seen was their friend Murph, the Clemsons, and an erratic neighbor, Mr. Finley.
Jimmy Boyd appeared periodically as their teenage nephew Wheeler.
The program aired on ABC for six months before the network retooled it into the
comedy-variety vehicle The Betty White Show. Lackluster ratings, which inspired
the revamping, lingered and that program ended in April 1958.
