This campy horror drama was set in Sunnydale, California.
Bright, perky Buffy had just moved to town with her
divorced mother Joyce, having been thrown out of her Los
Angeles high school for burning down the school gym.
(She did so to destroy a nest of vampires, but who knew?)
Buffy was about to start her sophomore year at Sunnydale
High, but unfortunately, her new hometown sat over the
very mouth of Hell, and was about to be invaded by a horde
of blood-sucking vampires. She was the vampire slayer
charged with protecting the populace. Giles, the eccentric
new librarian, was the "watcher" assigned to prepare her
to fight the demonic creatures. Helping them were fellow
students Willow, a brilliant but shy girl who was Buffy's
best friend; Xander, a gawky, good-natured guy who was
infatuated with Buffy; and Cordelia, the popular sexy
girl whose contributions were more accidental than
intentional. The local teen hangout was a club called
The Bronze, where the youthful vampires looked like
normal people until they morphed into their scaly
demonic selves.
